Marcel Baril Ltd was founded in 1955 by M. Marcel Baril, and is a family company that is now run by 3 of his children. The company began operations in La Sarre, in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region.
The company moved to Rouyn-Noranda at the end of 1975, and grew rapidly by settling in the Montreal metropolitan area and by acquiring Groom-Callaghan Supply in Sudbury, Ontario in 1988. The Ontario-based company had always specialized in industrial tooling and plumbing for the mining industry, and in February 2015, Groom-Callaghan Supply merged with Marcel Baril Ltd.
The purchase of Les Distributeurs Papineau in 2004, a Gatineau company, allowed Marcel Baril Ltd to acquire a company with a solid reputation and to add new employees with extensive experience in electricity product distribution to its team.
The company now has a large number of locations to better serve its customers. The distribution company covers a large territory and has a particularly strong presence in the areas north of Montreal and Toronto.
Marcel Baril Ltd now boasts a range of the most varied products and broad customer base, and has a privileged economic situation that enables it to face unexpected market changes. This particular situation offers a major advantage and demonstrates the company’s dynamism.
Marcel Baril Ltd is also proud to be recognized as a major player of the local economy in every region it operates in.
